How to apply
Here are your steps, in checklist form, on how to apply and what materials you need to submit for a complete application.
Application checklist for Canadian students
- Download, complete and submit the official application
- Submit the appropriate non-refundable application fee by check or money order ($50 for international and Canadian students). We don't accept cash.
- Request your official transcripts certified by a high school official or a university/college official and have them mailed directly to Wayne State. Credentials must bear the institution’s seal and signature.
- For transfer credit evaluation purposes, please submit course descriptions of all courses on your transcript if the courses are from countries outside of Canada.
- Transcripts from countries other than Canada must have certified English translations bearing official seal/stamp and signatures of the issuing institution along with the official transcript in the native language.
- Complete and sign the statement of financial support and funding statements within the application. See the I-20 expense requirements for appropriate funding statement amounts.
- Submit proof of English proficiency.
- If you hold a non-immigrant United States visa (H1, B1, F1, TN, L1, etc.) you must include a photocopy of your current visa with the completed admissions application.
- Submit copy of proof of citizenship or permanent residency.
Additional tips to help the process:
- Non-certified copies or student copies of any documents or transcripts are unacceptable
- All bank documentation must be original; photocopies are not accepted
- Your statement of financial support and funding statements cannot be older than six months
- English proficiency tests cannot be more than two years old
- Proof of citizenship requires acceptable documents including a passport, birth certificate, citizenship card and/or permanent resident card
- If you’re transferring from a U.S. college or university, contact an International Student Adviser to arrange for release of SEVIS status. You also must send the university a copy of your current I-20.
