High school counselors
As a high school counselor you are on the front lines for students when they're making decisions about beginning college or transferring institutions. The following resources will help you provide information to your students about Wayne State University.
Our latest newsletter is out! You'll find information on New Student Orientation and the freshman iStart program, upcoming student programs and general information for incoming freshman and transfer students.
Wayne State admission requirements
Freshman applicants can apply beginning in Sept. of their senior year. They'll be asking you to send their official transcript to us when they apply. An undergraduate application, official high school transcript, ACT or SAT scores and the application fee are the only required documents an applicant must submit. Letters of recommendation are completely optional.
If you're one of our Canadian counselors, check out the admission requirements for Canadian students here.
Opportunities to visit
Our admission counselors are out-and-about during the academic year. We will call you at the beginning of the school year to set up an initial visit to speak with your students and may even set up an on-site admission session at your school. Direct students to our recruitment schedule so they know when we'll be in the area!
Campus tours
If you haven't been on campus, how can you love it as much as we do? Walking tours of campus are offered weekdays at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Leave some extra time during your visit to purchase Wayne State gear at the bookstore or grab a snack at one of our on-campus eateries (like Starbucks or Einstein Bagel Bros.). We enthusiastically welcome school groups to visit our campus as well - bring your class!
Open House
Tour campus, meet faculty members, chat with current students and explore our 350 degree programs and majors during our fall and spring Open Houses. Check our calendar of events for dates and details.
Scholars Day
This is the university's largest scholarship event. We invite prospective first-year applicants and their parents to campus for a day of interviews, presentations and tours. Students must be invited to Scholars Day. To be considered for an invitation, incoming freshmen must be admitted before Jan. 15 of their senior year. Contact our office if you have any questions about student eligibility for Scholars Day.
Counselor Appreciation Luncheon
We know that you work hard as a counselor all year long. At the Counselor Appreciation Luncheon you can relax, dine at our beautiful campus and network with other high school counselors. Check back in the spring for more information.
