Tuition, scholarships, financial aid – oh my! At Wayne State our students pay for college in many different ways, which include private and federal money. Even though the financial aid and scholarship process may seem complicated, it’s really not too difficult. Check out the information below to see how you can afford a Wayne State degree.
Tuition
You’ll find that the cost to attend Wayne State is not too high and not too low – it’s just right! Our tuition rates are calculated based on the number of credit hours you take each semester. At the undergraduate level, 12 credit hours make you a full-time student and six credit hours make you a part-time student. Check out the tuition and fee chart.
Scholarships
Our scholarship criteria vary from need-based to merit-based, by major and by student type. WSU scholarship applications are available Nov. 1 and due Jan. 31 of each academic year prior to the academic year in which the scholarship will be awarded. Review the list of private and departmental scholarships that you may be eligible to receive.
Financial aid
We've increased the amount of need-based financial aid we offer by 50%! Last year alone, we awarded more than $272 million in financial aid to Wayne State students. Even if you think you may not qualify for any financial aid, you should fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) because you may need the information to apply for some of our need-based scholarships. No Worker Left Behind
In 2007, Governor Jennifer Granholm approved the No Worker Left Behind (NWLB) program to aid Michigan's labor force in preparing for the jobs of the future and Wayne State supports this initiative. Help towards tuition is given to those who qualify for the program and actively pursue a degree in a designated field. Find out if you can take advantage of services offered by the NWLB program.
